Pneumatically conveying irregular shapes can be very problematic for rotary valves, but is a very common application for Fox venturi eductors Fox venturis can pneumatically convey chips, prills, flakes, and shredded paper, film and cardboard with no moving parts. Such oddly shaped solids can get sheared and trapped in the rotor-clearances and shafts of rotary airlocks, causing frequent maintenance problems and sudden failures. This problem simply does not exist with venturi eductors, which have no moving parts. Fox eductors are installed under grinders, extruders, hammermills, and screeners, eliminating the blowback common with rotary valves. Typical eductor applications include conveying chopped cable and wire to incinerators, shredded metals at reprocessors, and chopped tires and rubber crumb conveyed to cement kilns as alternative fuel. Trim from plastic or sheet metal can be easily conveyed.
