Fox Slurry Eductors are used to mix or dissolve powders, pellets and bulk solids into liquids with no moving parts. Fox powder mixing venturies have been installed for over forty years in a broad range of industries – especially food, chemical, and water treatment applications. Common applications are to mix salt with water to create brines, add calcium and vitamin additives to juices and beverages, and to add flocculant, ion exchange resin and activated carbon at wastewater treatment plants. However, hundreds of different powders, prills, and pellets have been fed to Fox slurry eductors in industrial applications. Common oilfield applications now include mixing guar, fracking sand, ceramic beads and proppants to create drilling solutions. Multiple feeders can simultaneously dose two, three, or four powders into one slurry eductor to create the desired product.
Fox mixing eductors are available in line sizes from 1-1/2” inch through 16”, in carbon steel, stainless, food grade or sanitary designs, TFE-lined for handling sticky powders, and ceramic-lined for blending abrasives into water. Fox slurry eductors perform best when they are gravity fed from above, with material falling out of bulk bags, screw feeders, manual bag dump hoppers, or dust collectors. In certain applications, they can be used to suck powders up from drums and totes.
Fox can integrate additional equipment with eductors to facilitate installation of a Fox powder mixing jet pump at your plant. This can include custom hoppers, with grates, slide gate valves, washdown nozzles, and hinged lids; pumps; and controls – all can be mounted on a skid or moveable cart.
Common Applications of Liquid Powder Mixing Venturi Eductors include:
- Polymer, Resin, Flocculant to Water Treatment Tanks
- New and Spent Filter Media to WTP (anthracite, sand, ion exchange resin)
- Salt mixed into water to make brines
- Sugar, Milk Powders, Whey into beverages
- Graphite mixed with mineral spirits for lubricants
- Carbopol, guar gum, and emulsifiers into shampoos and lotions
- Calcium Citrate into Orange Juice
- Guar, bentonite, proppants to creating drilling fluids
When mixing or blending hard-to-wet powders used as thickeners in emulsions and suspensions, Fox Co-Axial Slurry Eductors are used. These mixing eductors provide almost instantaneous hydration of polymers and gums, and avoid clumps and “fish-eyes’ when discharging to a mix tank. Fox Co-Axial Slurry Eductors are widely used s Carbopol, guar gum and carrageenan. Some of the largest manufacturers of personal care products, such as like shampoos, lotions and creams, have used Fox powder mixing eductors to blend emulsifiers and thickeners into their liquid products without having to wait for a long mixing cycle.
