Fox eductors are installed to pneumatically convey bulk solids with irregular shapes that cannot be conveyed reliably with rotary valves or airlocks. Fox venturis can convey chips, flakes, prills, trim, and shredded materials with no moving parts. Such oddly shaped solids can often get trapped in the bearings, rotor clearances and shafts of rotary valves, causing failures or frequent maintenance problems. Fox eductors are installed under grinders, hammermills, and extruders, creating vacuum that helps pull material down into the pneumatic convey system and eliminating the blowback common with rotary valves. Applications include conveying chopped cable and wire to incinerators , shredded aluminum at reprocessors, shredded tires, and sometimes with embedded wires, conveying to cement kilns as alternative fuel. Trim and cut-outs from plastic or sheet metal can be easily conveyed.
