Fox venturi eductors are used to pneumatically convey irregularly shaped materials that cannot be reliably conveyed with rotary airlocks. Fox eductors can convey flakes, prills, chips, trim, and shredded products with no moving parts, whereas these odd shapes can often get trapped in the rotors, bearings, and shaft clearances of rotary valves, causing maintenance problems and frequent failures. Fox eductors are installed under hammermills, grinders and shredders, creating a vacuum that pulls material down into the pneumatic convey system, eliminating the blowback common with airlocks. Common applications include conveying chopped wire and cable to incinerators, shredded aluminum from cans, alloy wheels, etc., to smelters, shredded tires, and sometimes with embedded wires, to cement kilns. Cut-outs or trim from plastic or sheet metal can be easily conveyed.
