Fox Venturi Eductors have been used to mix or blend highly corrosive liquids in chemical, refining and industrial applications since the 1970’s. Like all venturi eductors, they use a motive liquid pressure of between 30 – 150 psig to create a vacuum or suction flow, that can then be used to blend, mix or dilute highly corrosive liquids. With no moving parts, venturi eductors eliminate expensive pumps with motors that inevitably fail due to exposure to corrosive leaks or vapors.
Acid Dilution using Venturi Eductors
Liquid eductors to dilute acid or acid concentrates at chemical, semi-conductor, refining, and gold mines. Materials of construction can include Hastelloy, Duplex, Monel.
- H2SO4 – Sulfuric Acid
- HCl – Hydrochloric Acid
- HF – Hydroflouric Acid
- HNO3 – Nitric Acid
Flanged, Armored Plastic-Lined (PLP) Eductors
For rugged industrial applications, Fox supplies Plastic-Lined Pipe (PLP) eductors. Available in 1-1/2″ – 4″ lines. These are flanged eductors with carbon or stainless steel housings, 150# flanges at all ends, with all internal, wetted parts in Teflon, Kynar or polypropylene. These are designed for installations where long service life in severely corrosive applications is required. Typical applications are in refineries, chemical processing, and semiconductor/high purity applications.
Acid Dilution

Corrosion resistant Fox eductors are installed to dilute and create solutions of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, carbonic acid and others. With a constant motive water flow rate, the acid flow can be adjusted to create whatever concentration is required. The exothermic reaction (heat) is typically not a problem
Venting Corrosive Vapors

Noxious and/or hazardous vapors from tank vents can be handled with a Teflon-lined eductor. During the fill cycle, the tank vent is piped to the suction port of a PLP eductor where a neutralizing liquid solution, used to clean the vent gas, is recirculated as the motive fluid. Multiple tank vents can be handled by a single eductor.
Purging Toxic or Explosive Liquids from Tanks or Piping before maintenance
Fox liquid eductors are often used to pull a deep vacuum on pipes, tubes and vessels, removing the last remaining liquid residue, as well as resulting vapors, so that maintenance work can proceed.
