Pneumatic Conveying of Steel Shot

Fox Venturi Eductors are used for pneumatic conveying of steel shot in dilute phase systems. Is a maintenance-free pneumatic conveying solution of interest at your plant?

Mines and mineral processors globally have used Fox venturi eductors since the 1970s to pneumatically convey clay, sand, ores, minerals. and abrasive dust. Current installations include conveying gold ore, nickel, quartz, mica, feldspar, perlite, bauxite, and various oxides like cuprous oxide and iron oxide. Conveying abrasives like mica flakes or quartz dust are very problematic with rotary airlocks, since leakage and blowback are inevitable, but not with eductors. Venturi eductor dilute phase conveying systems do not produce fugitive dust emissions. Moreover, there are no airlock shafts, seals or bearings to fail.

Since Fox venturi eductors are machined from bar, they are heavy-duty, heavy-walled, rugged equipment suited for tough mining, calcining and smelting plants. High-temperature metal powders, sand and minerals can be easily conveyed with venturi eductors, which are often installed under calciners, kilns, reactors, multiclones, and dust collectors. Venturi eductors convey effectively with extremely light but very abrasive solids like vermiculite and expanded perlite.

Fox ceramic-lined or tool-steel-lined eductors are installed when long service life is required. These are maintained in stock in one- to six-inch line sizes (25 mm – 200 mm), and can ship in a week or less for emergency replacement of failed rotary valves. Fox eductors can also be supplied for conveying in large lines, up to 24 inches (600 mm).

Hundreds of Fox eductors are currently installed conveying highly abrasive materials such as fracking sand, glass frit, fly ash, feldspar, CKD , blast media, alumina, mica and quartz dust, etc.
