Fox Air Jet Ejectors
When Deeper Vacuum is Needed

Fox also stocks another type of air ejector, Series 285 Ejectors, that are designed to provide deeper vacuum levels than Series 280 ejectors. Deeper vacuum levels, down to 1 psia, are required for various industrial processes.

Features of these air ejectors:

  • Optimized for pump priming and small process applications requiring vacuum
  • Maximum shutoff vacuum (using 80 psig air): 1 psia ( approx. 50 torr)

Pump Priming
Air Jet ejectors are ideal for priming pumps. The ejector suction port is piped to the highest point of the pump. The 285-AJV uses compressed air to create sufficient vacuum to evacuate the pump casing, drawing liquid up to the pump.
Vacuum Pump Backup...for emergencies or repairs
All mechanical vacuum pumps need maintenance. However its not always desirable to shut down the process during maintenance. A Series 285-AJV Air Jet ejector provides a cost effective way of providing temporary required vacuum without extensive rework to piping and system layout.
Liquid Transfer
If a corrosive liquid needs to be pumped from one vessel to another then a liquid operated eductor is often a choice (see bulletin 101). However if the liquid is corrosive, toxic or hot, then neither a liquid-jet eductor nor a conventional pump may be suitable. A series 285-AJV Air Jet ejector can be used to evacuate a transfer tank and create sufficient vacuum to draw the liquid from another vessel without concern for the liquid coming into contact with the eductor. Fox ejectors, with all Teflon wetted parts, are commonly used in this application for pumping bromine and other aggressive solutions.
